Frienship day is celebrated all over the world in countries like USA, UK, UAE and many Asian countries.
The history takes us back to 1930. It was organized by Joyce Hall founder of Hallmark Cards. Joyce intention was to celebrate on August 2. People sold greeting cards on this day.
World Friendship Crusade proposed Internaional Friendship Day on July 30, 1958. It’s an international organization that campaigns to encourage the development of peaceful culture through friendship, The idea of celebrating the festival struck to Dr. Ramon Bracho on July 20, 1958.
In 1998, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s wife Nane Annan named the cartoon character, Winnie the Pooh, as world’s Ambassador of friendship at the United Nations. UN Department of Public Information and Disney Enterprises co-sponsered this event.
On this day, people tie friendship bands to their best friends, send and receive gifts and spend good time with their best friends.
