Norton hospital, Louisville, Kentucky was busy as its halls were crowded. Mitch was moving through the crowd to locate his friend Eric. A queasy thought struck to his mind, “How could something so terrible happen to Eric”?
Eric had very good insurance business. He sold his successful business to serve hurting children in the world. They served as houseparents at a children’s home with his wife Amalia in Kentucky. He was gaining heights in his work of charity but he had much less which he could never imagine.

One day Eric and Amalia along with their children had gone for a long vacation to Switzerland. They wanted to spend quality time with their kids. Every family member was looking for such a trip.
Few hours before going to the airport, Eric had a continuous sensation between his temples. It was a severe pain. In CAT scan it was found there was mass in his brain. His family was compelled to end the vacation.
Next morning, he was hospitalized and doctor suggested for surgery. At the age of forty years, Eric was battling a brain tumor.
It was little bit difficult to find Eric’s bed, but after some time Mitch could find Eric lying in bed. Many visitors had visited Eric. Even with such a pain Eric could attend his visitors.
Mitch sat near to Eric. Mitch had conversation with Eric. Eric asked his wife Amalia to bring a pen and paper which seemed odd to Mitch.
Later, Mitch asked Amalia why Eric wanted pen and paper. “Before going for surgery, Eric wants to write a letter of what he thinks of each child of the children’s home. He feels if he would not make out alive… So, he wanted to express his love.” Amalia told to Mitch.
Eric lived for another eleven months and died after that. Mitch’s two more friends passed away the same year. It was very shocking to Mitch.
“We should do something for the people we love.” Mitch thought.
Mitch ran a program, “For our loved ones.” that helped people of all ages to write letters for their loved ones. He did this after realizing it was he who was supposed to do, not any other.
At the age of forty five, Mitch understood that how his life had changed. He was doing what he is meant for.
It was his life that was teaching something to him, though Mitch was in pain. If he hadn’t paid attention, he might have just missed.
